Taiwan Adoption

We are thrilled to announce that Living Hope has been approved by Cathwel Service in Taiwan to facilitate adoptions through their Waiting Child Program! The children we currently have available can be viewed on the "Available Children" page.

Criteria for Prospective Adoptive Parents 

• Applicant must be at least twenty years older than the child they intend to adopt
• Applicants must be within the age range of 30 - 55 years. Older applicants will be considered for older children on a case by case basis.
• Applicants must be married for at least 5 years, and be adopting jointly with his/her spouse. Exceptions considered.
• Unmarried women may also apply
• Applicants must have a BMI under 40
• Prospective adoptive parents must have a stable residence, legitimate work, and sufficient means. Minimum household income must meet USCIS poverty guidelines
• Applicants should be in good health
• Preference is given to childless couples for infant adoptions; however, there is no limit on the number of children in the home for Waiting Children and Older Children

Certain exceptions to the above may be made on a case by case basis.

Adoption Process

• Apply and contract with a licensed Adoption Service Provider
• Submit formal application to adopt from Taiwan
• Complete adoption home study
• Have USCIS fingerprints taken and file for immigration approval by submitting form I-600A
• Compile dossier
• Dossier review in Taiwan
• Cathwel Service will approve or deny child match
• Sign adoption placement agreement
• Complete referral dossier
• Court process set up in Taiwan
• Adopt the child in country
• Post-placement reports

Required Documents

• Application form
• Small photo album including photos of applicants and home environment
• One original copy of the home study in both English and Chinese
• Police or criminal clearances
• Financial statement
• Medical reports
• Two reference letters
• Letter to the birth mother
• Marriage certificate
• Photocopies of passports for each applicant
• An affidavit or certified letter from your authority/social welfare department/Consul to the effect that you are approved as adopters according to the adoption laws of your country
• Notarized contract provided by Cathwel Service
• Power of Attorney, Chinese and English
