We would like to thank all of the families who participated in Living Hope's annual reunion!
This year's reunion was held at the Holiday Inn Fort Washington from June 26th-28th.
We started off the weekend with a Historical Duck tour of Philadelphia. After 50 minutes on land,
20 minutes in the water, and 10 minutes on the side of the road due to engine trouble, we all
completed the tour safely with an array of knowledge of the city! Living Hope's President,
Samuel Fang, met us at the end of the tour to take the group to China town for lunch.
We all gathered for a family style meal at Joy Tsin Lau, where Samuel ordered everyone a variety
of Chinese specialties to try and enjoy. After lunch, families were given free time to tour the
city on their own. Friday evening we relaxed with the movie The Game Plan and some popcorn.
Saturday's activities got off to an early start with the ABC scavenger hunt. We then played
musical chairs, cracked open some piñatas, colored WANTED posters, had our faces painted by a
clown and got to pick out a balloon animal to take home. During this time, we also held seminars
for the adults. We had two adoptees come in to share their stories, and then one of our own adoptive
parents gave a presentation on school related issues. Meanwhile across the street at our office,
Samuel and his family cooked up some hot dogs for a light lunch. After lunch, some parents gathered
for a discussion of the book Silent Tear's by Kay Bratt.
We joined together again Saturday evening for the banquet. We enjoyed a Country Hoe Down
themed buffet, and then danced the night away! A line dance instructor came in to teach
the group some moves. We learned a few country line dances, and then did a few classics.
The kids did a great job following along, and all seemed to have a good time.
Sunday's service wrapped up the weekend, and everyone said their goodbyes. Overall the weekend
seemed to be a success! Friends reunited, and new bonds were formed.
